Janbal is a private luxury rainforest retreat that accommodates up to six people. The house has Three bedrooms - Two queens and One twin (can be made into a double). It has Three bathrooms, a living room, TV room, spacious kitchen/dining room and large verandas. Downstairs there is a bathroom, laundry and large lock up garage. Sitting amid lush tropical grounds overlooking a gorgeous in-ground pool, Janbal is an experience. Grab a book and sneak away to one of the many nooks and just relax! Swap the smog, cars, and city hum for the for the chirps, murmurs and the constant babbling of the forest stream. Swap the streetlights for the moon’s brilliance rising above the fronds of the Alexandra palms. Janbal is 15 mins North of Mossman, near Port Douglas in Northern Queensland, Australia. The house was built in the mid 1990s. It was designed by local architect John Ewen-Smith and to this day is one of his favourite houses. Janbal is spacious with several verandas and split levels, so you can always find your own quiet place. Enjoy the facilities of this fully equipped luxurious home, built to merge perfectly with the Northern Queensland Daintree Rainforest. Activities Do nothing, just relax and let the rainforest wash over you or enjoy the array of experiences far North Queensland has on offer. Just round the corner up the magnificent Whyanbeel valley there are a couple of great eating places, Diane Cilento's Karnak Playhouse and Cafe, also displaying the Hoglund Art Glass and High Falls Farm, a tropical fruit orchard and restaurant perched out over the Whyanbeel Creek. If you’re interested in horticulture, there are some of our most respected tropical plant growers that will share their knowledge with you. The mighty Daintree River is only 20 minutes drive north where you can enjoy the many cruises available or take advantage of local experience and fish this spectacular waterway and see the huge crocodiles basking in the winters sun. Drive further on to the quaint Daintree Village and enjoy its food and galleries. You can cross the river on the ferry and enter the Daintree National Park, take a drive to Cape Tribulation and pass through one of the oldest rainforests on the planet. Along the way are many hidden restaurants, cafes and enviourmental walks. For a little more action, Port Douglas is just 30 minutes south, you can enjoy its diverse cuisine, shopping, Fourmile Beach and Great Barrier Reef Trips, either fishing, diving or snorkelling. Between the Daintree river and Port Douglas there are three small coastal villages Cooya, Newell and Wonga beaches, here you can walk for miles and miles along beautiful tropical beaches all to yourself.
